Is Best Buy doing Black Friday 2020?
Without a doubt. Best Buy is celebrating Black Friday 2020 with both online deals and in-store sales. This year, however, the retailer is breaking with modern tradition; like many major retailers, store locations will not be open at any time on Thanksgiving Day.
Regardless of actual store hours, Best Buy Black Friday deals will be online, and most orders can be delivered to your home, scheduled for in-store pickup, or even, in many locations, curbside pickup.
When does Best Buy Black Friday 2020 start?
Black Friday, which traditionally refers to the Friday following Thanksgiving, is inaccurately named in 2020. Instead of starting on Friday, November 27, this year Best Buy has scheduled continuous waves of sales that span most of the month of November.
The first Best Buy Black Friday sales started on November 3, and additional sales picked up where those left off. Dozens of products are on sale right now, and the next major official Black Friday sale starts on November 22, the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. Additional sales events are scheduled to kick off on November 26 and November 28.
How long does Best Buy Black Friday sale last?
Because the Best Buy Black Friday celebration is a series of overlapping sales events, the most accurate way to describe the length of the sale is to say, “most of the month.” Individual sale events may come and go, but Best Buy is clearly striving to have a rotating selection of deals in play for weeks.
Will Best Buy be open on Thanksgiving?
No. Retail workers and their families have lobbied for years to encourage major retailers to close on Thanksgiving, and this is finally the year when that has come to pass. Walmart was among the first retailer to announce the closure and many stores, including Best Buy, quickly followed. The store is now one of dozens of retailers closed on the holiday—but of course the website is always open for online sales.
About the closure, Best Buy said in a press release, “We can all agree that, so far, 2020 has turned out differently than what we might have expected. Although this holiday season may certainly look different, we’re ready to once again be there for our customers how, when and where they need us, during the most exciting time of the year.”
What time will Best Buy open on Black Friday?
According to Best Buy, most retail locations should open at 5 a.m. local time on Friday, November 27. Local laws, regulations and conditions may affect that opening time, though, so if you are intent on being at the door at opening time, you should check with your local store.
Most Best Buy retail stores will be following social distancing guidelines, which include wearing masks inside the store and limiting the number of customers inside. Rather than browsing and shopping in person, you might want to order online and either have the goods delivered to your home or visit the location for in-store or curbside pickup.
Does Best Buy offer the best prices on Black Friday?
It depends. While Best Buy will offer excellent deals on many items in its inventory, don’t assume that something is a good deal just because it’s advertised on Black Friday. One obvious example: The new Sony PlayStation 5 will be advertised by Best Buy for Black Friday, but it will sell for full retail price.
Want to know if something is a good deal? Rely on browser plug-ins like Honey, PriceBlink and Popcart. These are handy tools that can compare prices with other retailers and show you which retailer has the best price.
Can you use cashback services with Black Friday discounts?
Absolutely. You can use cashback services like Ratuken and TopCashBack to earn anywhere from 1% to 5% back on routine online purchases—because you get a discount on items you were going to buy anyway, it’s like free money.
The discounts vary over time, but you can get additional savings from Best Buy’s Black Friday deals. TopCashBack, for example, is currently giving up to 3% back on Best Buy purchases.
