Caesarism Without Apology

In two recent posts touching on America’s increasing constitutional decadence, I strove (no doubt only semi-successfully) for evenhandedness, acknowledging the extent to which President Obama’s expansive use of executive power is part of a larger trend, shaped by structural forces, etc., and conceding as well the particular challenges of dealing with a Congress that’s both incompetent (particular the Republican caucus in the House) and all-too-eager to abdicate its constitutional responsibilities.
