The Totalities Of Copenhagen

The course of the 20th century has been defined by totalitarianism. Think of Stalin and Lenin's bloody and repressive regimes.  It would be dangerous to assume that the habits of the mind that sustained this kind of belief system would simply vanish.  In Copenhagen it is alive and well. There Is No Normal Anymore

Nearly every aspect of American life seems to have veered off course into uncharted territory with unforeseeable consequences.  There is no normal any more.  From an government that takes over big business to Hollywood that churns out a gutter flow of violence, vampires and video sex.  The 2008 election was all about "change".  The elections of 2010 and 2012 will be about getting control and returning to normal.

Nothing Noble About Nobel

Awarding President Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize does him no good and devalues the prize. This award has gone to some dubious recipients in recent decades, but at least they had demonstrated their virtues (and vices) by actions as opposed to mere words.

Politicions are scrambling to get the higest unemployment rate seen in a quarter of a century down before midterm elections.  The proposals percolating in Congress range from splashy ideas with little chance of short-term impact to pork-filled stalwarts.

Tax cuts are the answer.

Thanks for the November Jobs Report?

The Obama Administration's approach to yesterday's "jobs summit"--excluding the Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Businesses, the principal federations that represent private-sector job creators--further illustrates the governments shortsightedness in addressing the jobless situation.

In Feburary Obama signed into law a bill to extend both the time and compensation unemployed workers would receive. Does the Government want employment?
