Fiscal Policy Report Card on America's Governors: 2012

The recovery from the recent recession has been very sluggish, and the nation's governors have struggled with the resulting budget deficits, unemployment, and other economic problems in their states. Many reform-minded governors elected in 2010 have championed tax reforms and spending restraint to get their states back on track. Other governors have expanded government with old-fashioned tax-and-spend policies.

That is the backdrop to this year's 11th biennial fiscal report card on the governors, which examines state budget actions since 2010. It uses statistical data to grade the governors on their taxing and spending records—governors who have cut taxes and spending the most receive the highest grades, while those who have increased taxes and spending the most receive the lowest grades.

Four governors were awarded an "A" in this report card—Sam Brownback of Kansas, Rick Scott of Florida, Paul LePage of Maine, and Tom Corbett of Pennsylvania. Chris Edwards - Cato Institute - Click To Read More...

DSMW operates out Of Tampa and we are proud of our new Governor Rick Scott. Florida, under his conservative Republican leadership, now operates from a balanced budget. The voters of Florida felt they were going out on a limb to elect Scott, a successful businessman with no prior governmental experience. We are now a competitive desirable state that welcomes business and not solely dependent on the tourist industry.

Congratulations Rick.

Things to Do in the Debate When You're Dead

What happens to a person with severe narcissistic personality disorder when he gets his rear end handed to him after an embarrassing debate drubbing?  He gets bozo-ballistic wee-wee'd up about it!

The situation was so tense after the presidential debate in Denver that the larger of the Obama team, Michelle, placed her body between Obama and a surprised Romney -- and glared at the Republican, daring him to step out from behind the podium and lay one more word on her metrosexual man. A Huge Victory For Mitt

Mitt Romney politely cleaned Barack Obama’s clock Wednesday night in the first presidential debate. A lethargic and at times tired looking President Obama was out-hustled, out-facted, out-energized, and out-informed by the former governor from Massachusetts.

Romney offered something completely unlike his convention speech. He focused on strong economic issues. He developed his philosophy of limited government. He convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is in fact a pro-growth tax reformer who wants to lower the rate and broaden the base in a revenue-neutral fashion that will actually create jobs and spur the economy.

This is the first time I have been totally convinced of Romney’s tax-reform principles. Larry Kudlow - NRO - Click To Read More...

"Not Exactly"

Terry Anderson, an African-American talk show host in Los Angeles, provides a list of 39 things Democrat presidential hopeful Barack Obama claims are facts, but further investigation shows they are not exactly correct.

Senator Obama is easily sailing through his campaign without media scrutiny, while reporters rummage through Gov. Sarah Palin's past in order to discover anything that may hurt her politically.

While Oprah Winfrey practically lap-danced for Obama, she's refusing to have Palin as a guest on her show (see petition urging Oprah to invite Gov. Palin to be a guest on her syndicated television show http://www.palinpetition.com/).  Daniel Greene

Anderson's list is quite interesting:

1.) Selma March Got Me Born - NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965. (Google'Obama Selma ' for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles about its various untruths.)

2.) Father Was A Goat Herder - NOT EXACTLY, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government. Amazon Customer Discussions - Click To Read More...

Terry Anderson wrote this several years ago about the then Senator Obama. It seems  fitting to reprint this today ( The day after Romney's Denver debate with the President. )

One thing over 50 million Debate viewers saw last night was leadership on display. Romney was there with the facts and a take charge, "Buck stops here" attitude. He did it with a smile and respect for the occasion.

For the voters who have an open mind and have not watched Romney before, this was a treat.

The rerun of this column  is also a tribute to Terry Anderson who died recently but had the wherewithal to research Senator Obama and get it out there. - DSMW

Who Is The Real Obama? Watch Racially Charged Speech Given To Jeremiah Wright And Black Congregation

In a video obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama tells an audience of black ministers, including the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, that the U.S. government shortchanged Hurricane Katrina victims because of racism.

"The people down in New Orleans they don't care about as much!" Obama shouts in the video, which was shot in June of 2007 at Hampton University in Virginia. By contrast, survivors of Sept. 11 and Hurricane Andrew received generous amounts of aid, Obama explains. The reason? Unlike residents of majority-black New Orleans, the federal government considers those victims "part of the American family."

The racially charged and at times angry speech undermines Obama's carefully-crafted image as a leader eager to build bridges between ethnic groups. The Daily Caller - Click To Read More...

Dishonorable Disclosures: How Leaks And Politics Threaten National Security

Our Navy Seals and Special Operations work hard and give their lives and their families to keep this country out of harm's way. Their selfless commitment to the tenets of liberty are the very fabric this country is made of.

In this incredibly powerful video Senior CIA, FBI, Military and many other U.S. government intelligence officials describe for the viewer how Obama has compromised U.S. national secrets and the very serious consequence of those actions

This video is a personal request to President Obama to stop the White House leaks made for personal gain.

The events that have transpired in the middle East over the last several weeks are in direct response to the reckless disregard this administration has for the safety of our military and military contacts made abroad.

This video is a personal appeal to everyone who sees it to speak out. - DSMW

A New Course For The Middle East

Disturbing developments are sweeping across the greater Middle East. In Syria, tens of thousands of innocent people have been slaughtered. In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood has come to power, and the country's peace treaty with Israel hangs in the balance. In Libya, our ambassador was murdered in a terrorist attack. U.S. embassies throughout the region have been stormed in violent protests. And in Iran, the ayatollahs continue to move full tilt toward nuclear-weapons capability, all the while promising to annihilate Israel.

These developments are not, as President Obama says, mere "bumps in the road." They are major issues that put our security at risk.

Yet amid this upheaval, our country seems to be at the mercy of events rather than shaping them. We're not moving them in a direction that protects our people or our allies. Mitt Romney - Wall Street Journal - Click To Read More...

Unleash The Mind

Capitalism means benevolent creativity

America’s wealth is not an inventory of goods; it is an organic entity, a fragile pulsing fabric of ideas, expectations, loyalties, moral commitments, visions. To vivisect it for redistribution is to kill it. As President Mitterrand’s French technocrats discovered in the 1980s, and President Obama’s quixotic ecocrats are discovering today, government managers of complex systems of wealth soon find they are administering an industrial corpse, a socialized Solyndra.

All riches must finally fall into the gap between thoughts and things. George Gilder - NRO - Click To Read More...

Barack Obama's Terrorist Attack Cover-Up

It is astounding that what really happened in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012 has been so thoroughly buried by the mainstream media.

In an article from Reuters dated September 12, 2012, Alastair MacDonald reported that "U.S. troops dispatched by helicopter across the Libyan desert to rescue Ambassador Chris Stevens and other diplomats in Benghazi ran into a fierce overnight ambush that left a further two Americans dead."  MacDonald quotes Capt. Fathi al-Obeidi (Libya special operations) as saying that "after his men and the Marines had found the American survivors who had evacuated the blazing consulate, the ostensibly secret location in an isolated villa came under an intense and highly accurate mortar barrage."

A detailed timeline of the attack is here.  Sara Goss - American Thinker - Click To Read More...

Sara Goss's point is well taken. No one mentioned a "Movie" until Obama and Hillary Clinton threw it out there. One thing's for sure, this will not go away, not in Benghazi, Cairo, Yemen or Dearborn Michigan where Obama's movie idea is not playing well to the local Muslims. Or is it.... - DSMW

Non-Intelligence: Birth Of The Internet For Reliable Information

Because this is an election year and nearing voting time, and because the media is invested in the outcome, we will not get an accurate account of the events leading to the murder of Ambassador Stevens and others. We know only that almost immediately key administration spokespeople asserted things that not only could not be true, but also that they may well have known could not be true — a fact fading from memory as various cabinet secretaries now change the narrative to a premeditated terrorist attack quite independent from a two-month old obscure video.
