Interview with Deborah Cox-Roush

TAMPA - Deborah Cox-Roush is the Chairman of the Hillsborough County Republican Party. We were able to share a few minutes with her and discuss the political landscape for Hillsborough County. Debbie is passionate for politics. She shared her views on the direction of this country and the reason it is important to be politically involved.

The HCRP provides wonderful speakers. Last year it was Sen. Jim DeMint, Herman Cain and Sen. Mike Pense. Several weeks ago Jeb Bush, Jr, spoke. The list is endless. Saturday, May 7th Governor Rick Scott will speak along with Attorney General Pam Bondi and Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putman when HCRP presents "A Night To Remember."

Debbie smiles when she mentions the surprise speakers coming up in the next several months. I'll be there and I hope you will be too.

DSMW Endorses Deborah Cox-Roush Chairman Republican Party of Florida

TAMPA - If you are interested in politics and are worried about the future of the Republican party on a state and national level, you can put your fears to rest.

We met Deborah Cox Roush in the first of her highly successful Summer Dinner Series and realized she was a force of nature. Whether speaking to Marco Rubio, Jim Demint or the rank and file of the Republican party, Cox-Roush comes across as not only a concerned friend but a woman born to the job of running a political party.

In an Orlando luncheon last year, Cox-Roush received the Republican Of The Year Award, joining the likes of Sen. Paula Hawkins and Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum. She has served as the Chairman of Hillsborough County Executive Committee since 2008 and was elected Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida in 2010 where she works closely with Chairman Jim Thrasher. Her next step, becoming Chairman of the party, is obvious and we feel confident she will be able to pull it off.

For now Cox-Roush is content to travel the state in her Ford speaking to Floridians about grass roots issues in places like panhandle restaurants or leaving to catch Southwest Airlines (only when time is tight) to dash to Miami on Party business. A Political Science major, she is keenly aware of the nuances and gravity of the job at hand, working hard while making it look easy. She is facing four other candidates from across the state. Each is qualified for the job of Chairman, but Cox-Roush has the experience and vision to lead the Republican Party through what we see as a sensitive conservative transition.
