Citizen Cain, Don't Worry About Christie

This year I had the honor to be a part of the Florida Straw Poll. Being one of many Straw Poll voters representing Hillsborough County I saw firsthand the excitement Herman Cain can inspire.

Cain, along with the other GOP candidates, spoke to the 3,400 plus voters over a three day period. Each time Cain spoke his message went to the heart of each person. Whether or not you were for Cain, he was a consideration in your choice of candidate. Every GOP representative there from Perry to Ron Paul was formidable, but Herman had the crowd. When he took the stage it was riveting. Rick Santorum who had the bad luck to follow Cain quipped "he was going to fire his campaign manager for scheduling his speech after Cain's." No speaker can follow the excitement Herman Cain creates.

Herman Cain's rapid rise in business in 1970 starting with Coca-Cola in Atlanta. He  quickly moved to Pillsbury in Minnesota. In the the 80's Pillsbury tapped Herman to take over their stumbling hamburger business at the age of 36. In 1986 Pillsbury sent Cain to turn around Godfather's pizza. Cain bought Godfathers pizza from Pillsbury in 1988 and ran it until 1996 when he served as CEO of the National Restaurant Association. Learn more about Herman Cain's accomplishments here at The New Voice.

Herman Cain is all America. What he has Chris Christie can not match. Cain has not run a state, but we here in Florida have learned from Governor Rick Scott that this fact does not matter if you know how to run a successful business and Herman Cain has done that in spades. Cain has faced the unions, dealt with Bill Clinton's version of healthcare and more importantly he is not part of the Washington establishment.

The Florida Straw Poll voters did not want to go out on a political limb, but they could not help themselves when they met Herman Cain. Watch out America you are about to meet the Herminator. -  DSMW

President Obama, The Race To The White House Is Not About Color

The Results of the Florida Presidential Straw Poll are as follows:

Herman Cain         -  37.1%

Rick Perry               -  15%

Mitt Romney           -  14%

Rick Santorum       -  10.4%

Ron Paul                 - 10.39%

Newt Gingrich         -  8.43%

Jon Huntsman        -  2.26%

Michele Bachman   - 1.5%

In a state that seemingly no longer trusts Washington, it once again voted for a businessman. In the Florida Straw Poll, Herman Cain wowed the electorate with his accomplishments in business and his vision for this country. Florida showed the country, once again, it no longer cares for politicians and given the chance it will vote for an political outsider. Florida Straw Poll voters also showed that color does not matter.

Governor Rick Scott was on hand to address the GOP Straw Poll Voters from each of the 67 counties in Florida. Scott, a successful self made businessman, who had never held a political office before being elected the Governor of Florida, told stories about his hardscrabble upbringing. He expressed the importance of the delegates being there and the importance of their activism and their vote.

In the roll call vote where each delegate's vote was counted and announced, Florida decided it no longer cared about how long you served your state, or the experience you gained in being a political insider in Washington. It came down to your ability to be a success in business and the number of jobs you created. Herman Cain fit the bill.

Cain wins with 37%!

Congratulations Herman Cain!

With every speech given by each candidate, it felt like Cain had won from the first time he got behind the podium.

Interesting times are ahead for Mr. Cain, the rest of the Republican field and the country as a whole. Learn more about Herman Cain here.

What is for certain is that the Left can no longer put that monochromatic label on the GOP and the Tea Party. - DSMW

DSMW To Cover Presidency 5

September 19th, 2011

Don't Spread My Wealth to cover Presidency 5

Tampa, FL – Don't Spread My Wealth (DSMW) will cover the Presidency 5 Straw Poll in Orlando, Florida, from the 22nd through the 24th of September, 2011. Presidency 5 is seen as the pivitol straw poll in the hotly contested race to be come the Republican presidential nominee.

“It's both exciting and a privilege to be able to participate in such significant event and vote in the Florida Straw Poll that could shape the future of our nation” said Susan Massey, publisher of DSMW. “Florida has continued to play an increasingly more important role with each election and Presidency 5 has accurately determined the Republican nominee since 1979. I can't imagine a more relevant and exciting event to report on than 2011 P5”

Florida, the nation's fourth most populous state, is seen as a barometer for the conservative party. Grass roots organizers realize that so goes Florida, so goes the nation. If a candidate is to go mainstream, they must reach out to Florida voters.

Don't Spread My Wealth (DSMW) is a leading fiscally conservative news and information site. Founded in 2009, DSMW's monthly readership numbers in the thousands. DSMW is privately owned.

From Good Intentions to Government Entitlement

Johnathan Lott

We live in an age of entitlement.  Voters believe that the government should exist to give them whatever they so desire.  After all, they never really see the cost of it.  This mentality has led to a marked rise in entitlement programs both in the federal and state governments.  And these entitlements aren’t just for the poor and marginalized; everyone wants their fair share of government handouts.

The Florida Bright Futures program provides and excellent case study of this phenomenon.  The program was enacted in 1997 – under a Republican legislature and a moderate Democrat governor – to provide scholarships for Florida’s best and brightest to attend college in Florida.

Florida State Representative Dana Young Speaks to DSMW

TAMPA - Florida State Representative Dana Young (R. District 57) was gracious enough to speak to us at the Hillsborough County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner.

Representive Young and a GOP-led legislature passed a wide range of bills in the legislature ending in the wee hours of the morning in Tallahassee before this interview was done in Tampa that evening. The lawmakers approved a shrunken $69.7 billion budget closing a $3.8 billion gap. The tax cuts will effect every Floridian that votes, buys insurance, receives public education, Medicaid and state retirement benefits.

Florida's Governor Rick Scott Tells Tea Party; "I Will Cut Billions"

Eustis - In an extraordinary move Florida Governor Rick Scott slashed state government spending and announced his budget cuts before an overflow tea party crowd in Eustis yesterday.  True to his word to his tea party constituents he chose this venue and not Tallahassee the state capitol to make his budget announcements.

Scott threw drown the gauntlet to other legislatures who felt it was unrealistic to cut taxes when the state faces a hugh budget gap. In statements such as 'the government has no money of it own" Scott talked about getting rid of state fiefdoms and cutting taxes by 660 million in two years. It's your money Scott says

Rick Scott; Florida's Answer To A Balanced Budget

Florida's pension system is the only one in the nation that does not require state workers to make any contributions. Gov. Rick Scott rightly wants to change that.

He proposes that workers be required to contribute 5 percent of their salaries into the Florida Retirement System. Moreover, he would eliminate the pension plan for new employees and instead offer workers a 401(k) retirement account like those widely offered in the private sector.

Rick Scott has the answer. Not only are his government reducing plans exciting, they're practical and will work. Read His Story....

Unemployed aren't trying hard enough to get jobs

Florida's incoming Gov. Rick Scott has created a firestorm in the state by announcing the unemployed are not looking for work.  In a state study just done it showed people out of work are spending on an average of 20 minutes a day looking for work. Scott's recommendations are to tighten job-search requirements for people getting benefits, cut off assistance for those who do not comply and assign community work for those who do not get a job in 12 months.  Scott's goals;  increase employment and reduce the payout of unemployment benefits, as well as the unemployment compensation tax burden on businesses.

- DSMW, when faced with interviewing new job applicants, found workers wanted to use us as a reference on their unemployment forms (a process done to keep receiving unemployment benefits) but were not interested in the available job.

DSMW Endorses Deborah Cox-Roush Chairman Republican Party of Florida

TAMPA - If you are interested in politics and are worried about the future of the Republican party on a state and national level, you can put your fears to rest.

We met Deborah Cox Roush in the first of her highly successful Summer Dinner Series and realized she was a force of nature. Whether speaking to Marco Rubio, Jim Demint or the rank and file of the Republican party, Cox-Roush comes across as not only a concerned friend but a woman born to the job of running a political party.

In an Orlando luncheon last year, Cox-Roush received the Republican Of The Year Award, joining the likes of Sen. Paula Hawkins and Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum. She has served as the Chairman of Hillsborough County Executive Committee since 2008 and was elected Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida in 2010 where she works closely with Chairman Jim Thrasher. Her next step, becoming Chairman of the party, is obvious and we feel confident she will be able to pull it off.

For now Cox-Roush is content to travel the state in her Ford speaking to Floridians about grass roots issues in places like panhandle restaurants or leaving to catch Southwest Airlines (only when time is tight) to dash to Miami on Party business. A Political Science major, she is keenly aware of the nuances and gravity of the job at hand, working hard while making it look easy. She is facing four other candidates from across the state. Each is qualified for the job of Chairman, but Cox-Roush has the experience and vision to lead the Republican Party through what we see as a sensitive conservative transition.

To read more about Cox-Roush go to www.deborahcox-roush.com and she can be found on Facebook.
