Citizen Cain, Don't Worry About Christie

This year I had the honor to be a part of the Florida Straw Poll. Being one of many Straw Poll voters representing Hillsborough County I saw firsthand the excitement Herman Cain can inspire.

Cain, along with the other GOP candidates, spoke to the 3,400 plus voters over a three day period. Each time Cain spoke his message went to the heart of each person. Whether or not you were for Cain, he was a consideration in your choice of candidate. Every GOP representative there from Perry to Ron Paul was formidable, but Herman had the crowd. When he took the stage it was riveting. Rick Santorum who had the bad luck to follow Cain quipped "he was going to fire his campaign manager for scheduling his speech after Cain's." No speaker can follow the excitement Herman Cain creates.

Herman Cain's rapid rise in business in 1970 starting with Coca-Cola in Atlanta. He  quickly moved to Pillsbury in Minnesota. In the the 80's Pillsbury tapped Herman to take over their stumbling hamburger business at the age of 36. In 1986 Pillsbury sent Cain to turn around Godfather's pizza. Cain bought Godfathers pizza from Pillsbury in 1988 and ran it until 1996 when he served as CEO of the National Restaurant Association. Learn more about Herman Cain's accomplishments here at The New Voice.

Herman Cain is all America. What he has Chris Christie can not match. Cain has not run a state, but we here in Florida have learned from Governor Rick Scott that this fact does not matter if you know how to run a successful business and Herman Cain has done that in spades. Cain has faced the unions, dealt with Bill Clinton's version of healthcare and more importantly he is not part of the Washington establishment.

The Florida Straw Poll voters did not want to go out on a political limb, but they could not help themselves when they met Herman Cain. Watch out America you are about to meet the Herminator. -  DSMW

President Obama, The Race To The White House Is Not About Color

The Results of the Florida Presidential Straw Poll are as follows:

Herman Cain         -  37.1%

Rick Perry               -  15%

Mitt Romney           -  14%

Rick Santorum       -  10.4%

Ron Paul                 - 10.39%

Newt Gingrich         -  8.43%

Jon Huntsman        -  2.26%

Michele Bachman   - 1.5%

In a state that seemingly no longer trusts Washington, it once again voted for a businessman. In the Florida Straw Poll, Herman Cain wowed the electorate with his accomplishments in business and his vision for this country. Florida showed the country, once again, it no longer cares for politicians and given the chance it will vote for an political outsider. Florida Straw Poll voters also showed that color does not matter.

Governor Rick Scott was on hand to address the GOP Straw Poll Voters from each of the 67 counties in Florida. Scott, a successful self made businessman, who had never held a political office before being elected the Governor of Florida, told stories about his hardscrabble upbringing. He expressed the importance of the delegates being there and the importance of their activism and their vote.

In the roll call vote where each delegate's vote was counted and announced, Florida decided it no longer cared about how long you served your state, or the experience you gained in being a political insider in Washington. It came down to your ability to be a success in business and the number of jobs you created. Herman Cain fit the bill.

Cain wins with 37%!

Congratulations Herman Cain!

With every speech given by each candidate, it felt like Cain had won from the first time he got behind the podium.

Interesting times are ahead for Mr. Cain, the rest of the Republican field and the country as a whole. Learn more about Herman Cain here.

What is for certain is that the Left can no longer put that monochromatic label on the GOP and the Tea Party. - DSMW

The Votes Are Being Counted...

The voting is over and the counting is under way. Right now it feels like Herman Cain has all the momentum. Stranger things have happened.

What is very telling, however, is the way the Perry camp is downplaying expectations.

It is gratifying to have someone else share our opinion of the Governor's performance this weekend.

Herman Cain speaks to Faith & Freedom Coalition At P5

Knockin 'em dead as usual, Herman Cain gets the faithful to their feet. Debates are not big enough for Cain. His personal force is off the charts. As a businessman he has done it all. President and CEO of Godfather Pizza (see a list of his accomplishments in the New Voice, this space is too small to cover it all)

Like Ron Paul, Herman Cain brought the four thousand plus crowd to their feet over and over with cheers and sheer promise. It will be interesting to see the results of the Florida Straw Poll. It may not be all Perry and Mitt Romney.

The Fox Slug Fest

Well, as one straw poll voter, I was ready to cast my vote for the best candidate, but now...

As Perry and Romney spent the night sparring (to put it mildly) the rest of the GOP candidates shined doing nothing. Michele Bachman got less time from Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly and the other moderators and seemed grateful if not on point. Herman Cain and Ron Paul got the best response from the six thousand plus crowd.

Gary Johnson was wonderful and should consider a job on the late night circuit. He had a great quip about "the only shovel ready jobs were his neighbor's dogs. This late in the debate the crowd was weary of the Romney - Perry back biting: pointless and uninspiring and loved Johnson's humor.

The state of Florida was ready for something. Having never attending a Presidency 5 our group was impressed with the sheer excitement and numbers of attendees and other straw poll voters, but the debate left the crowd who came decisive leaving wondering who to vote for.

The guys in media were impressed with the Fox - Goggle digs but also felt the Perry - Romney fights were not good for the rank and file. - DSMW

Watching the Watchers

What a quiet spectacle; a hundred or so reporters hacking away on laptops, iPads and iPhones. Yet the room is strangely silent, save the sound of the the debate from the twenty plus 40" flats screens filling the room.

So far Paul and Cain have gotten the most response from the pros.

DSMW To Cover Presidency 5

September 19th, 2011

Don't Spread My Wealth to cover Presidency 5

Tampa, FL – Don't Spread My Wealth (DSMW) will cover the Presidency 5 Straw Poll in Orlando, Florida, from the 22nd through the 24th of September, 2011. Presidency 5 is seen as the pivitol straw poll in the hotly contested race to be come the Republican presidential nominee.

“It's both exciting and a privilege to be able to participate in such significant event and vote in the Florida Straw Poll that could shape the future of our nation” said Susan Massey, publisher of DSMW. “Florida has continued to play an increasingly more important role with each election and Presidency 5 has accurately determined the Republican nominee since 1979. I can't imagine a more relevant and exciting event to report on than 2011 P5”

Florida, the nation's fourth most populous state, is seen as a barometer for the conservative party. Grass roots organizers realize that so goes Florida, so goes the nation. If a candidate is to go mainstream, they must reach out to Florida voters.

Don't Spread My Wealth (DSMW) is a leading fiscally conservative news and information site. Founded in 2009, DSMW's monthly readership numbers in the thousands. DSMW is privately owned.

Larry Dale Kicked The TSA Out Of Orlando

The Orland Sanford International Airport has opted out of the TSA screening process. Why you may ask? Let Director Larry Dale sum it up for you:

"All of our due diligence shows it's the way to go," said Larry Dale, the director of the Sanford Airport Authority. "You're going to get better service at a better price and more accountability and better customer service."

Larry, you are our hero. Hopefully your move will encourage more airports to do the same.
