Sports are shut down across North America because of the coronavirus pandemic.
And more people are being required to shelter in place in a bid to “flatten the curve” on the disease’s spread.
Fox Sports play-by-play announcer Joe Buck has found a way to help people get over their boredom while honing the skills he will need once sports eventually return to action.
“I have good news for you – While we’re all quarantined right now without any sports, I’d love to get some practice reps in,” Buck tweeted Sunday. “Send me videos of what you’re doing at home and I’ll work on my play-by-play. Seriously!”
He had one caveat: “It has to be of daily stuff. Not you playing Madden.”
And he wants people to pledge to donate at least a small amount to a cause if he narrates one of your videos.
Buck posted one video of him doing play-by-play on his family.
People sent him videos of a marble race, a dog chasing a football and a powerful backyard baseball hit. Josh Lewin, a play-by-play voice for UCLA and the Boston Red Sox, has done a similar thing on his Twitter channel.
Kudos to Buck, who was on the call for Super Bowl LIV in February, for providing some relief.
