Obama and American Exceptionalism

“I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism,” Barack Obama

By virture of saying that all countries are exceptional, none are. Gingrich, Palin and a leading group of GOP contenders are accusing Barack Obama of not embracing the concept of American Exceptionalism, saying he is pursuing an agenda on healthcare and the economy that is at odds with the fundamentals that distinguish the United States.  Obama, perhaps because of his background, has a secular socialization and European view.

Is this Gingrich’s way of questioning the President’s core? A growing number of Americans believe Obama was not born in this country and is a muslim.  This is no longer a fringe group of critics but real Americans who are struggling for answers.
