The real nugget of information in Obama’s Power point campaign donor pitch for 2012 is not that he is weaker than his GOP candidates but that Jon Huntsman, former governor of Utah, is running against him in the 2012 primaries. In current campaign press releases to donors in New York, Austin, Dallas, San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Obama team feels he has recovered from the 2010 elections and is now ready for 2012; but of course, this will require substantial donor support. The centerpiece of the 10 page pitch is “Change that matters” and will kick off April 1st around the country.
Jon Huntsman’s is the President’s outgoing Ambassador to China and is considered an insider which Team Obama feels is problematic for his candidacy. Huntsman, considered a moderate, will show the hypocrises in his candidacy because of his ties to Obama according to David Axelrod and Robert Gibbs who will play a role in the Obama campaign. Huntsman, while governor of Utah, signed into law a healthcare plan without an individual mandate not unlike Mitt Romney’s in Massachusetts. He is considered a threat to Obama.
