Rick Scott; Florida’s Answer To A Balanced Budget

Florida’s pension system is the only one in the nation that does not require state workers to make any contributions. Gov. Rick Scott rightly wants to change that.

He proposes that workers be required to contribute 5 percent of their salaries into the Florida Retirement System. Moreover, he would eliminate the pension plan for new employees and instead offer workers a 401(k) retirement account like those widely offered in the private sector.
