We were promised turbulence, Bachelor Nation. Boy, did we get it (and we’re only halfway through).
During last week’s “Women Tell All,” host Chris Harrison told us Peter Weber’s finale would be a two-night live event, and not a single person knew how Peter’s journey would end – not even Peter himself.
Chris Harrison reiterated this fact during Part I of the live finale, and also called the season’s ending “one of the more controversial and shocking endings to a season that we have ever had on this show.” Yikes.
We start off with previously filmed footage in the Australian Outback. It’s full of unknown, much like Peter’s journey! (A little on the nose, if you ask us.)
Peter’s family joins him, and he clues them into his final two women: Madison (who they already met at his parents’ vow renewal earlier this season) and Hannah Ann. Peter explains the fantasy suite drama with Madison (about how he was honest with her about being intimate and how the date collapsed) – and his family seems skeptical about that relationship.
‘It was love at first sight,’ Hannah Ann tells Peter’s dad
First up to see Peter’s family is Hannah Ann. She says she recognized her feelings for him when he gave her the first impression rose. “I see you and me in them,” his mother Barbara says to her husband Peter Sr. (yes, also named Peter). Promising!
Barbara pulls aside Hannah Ann, who grows emotional as she opens up about her love for Peter. “It was love at first sight,” Hannah Ann tells Peter Sr.
Peter explains to his dad that his heart is with two people right now. Is Peter leaning one way or the other? He needs time with Madison.
Regardless, Hannah Ann made a good impression: “I feel like I’ve known you all my life,” Barbara tells Hannah Ann. (Us too, honestly. This season has felt like a lifetime.)
‘She’s not there for you,’ Barbara says of Madison
Madison is still upset with Peter’s fantasy suite week choice. She feels he put his feelings and wants above hers.
Peter says that he doesn’t know how she feels about him. The two have a tearful conversation about their relationship and she admits she doesn’t feel confident and at peace.
Before that night, she would’ve said yes to a proposal. “Like, love isn’t the issue here, you know?” Madison tells him. It’s “all this other crap,” she says. She admits she was going to tell him that she loved him the night of their fantasy suite date – and the pair can’t help but turn their frowns upside down.
Madison gets reacquainted with Peter’s family. Peter starts explaining the long talk they had before this, and Madison says she’s in love with him, but doesn’t shy away from describing the hesitance during fantasy suite week.
Peter’s family is concerned about the pair’s different levels of faith and general lifestyles, and it gets into Madison’s head.
“She’s not there for you,” Barbara says of Madison after she leaves. We’re very happy his folks spoke rationally, a rare “Bachelor” occurrence – trust your mother, Peter.
‘Don’t let her go’ woman from ‘The Bachelor’ revealed
Peter’s family is confused. Why isn’t Hannah Ann his obvious choice?
They get into an argument, and Barbara starts sobbing. “Hannah Ann loves you with all of her heart. Don’t let her go, don’t let her go. Bring her home to us!” she says, finally answering who she’s been blubbering about in the promos for the finale. Peter’s not buying the sob show, though.
Peter tells the camera it stinks his family isn’t supportive of Madison. But he’s in love with her and wants her more than anything. Stupid.
Madison, Peter’s next date doesn’t go so well
Peter and Madison jet off on a helicopter tour together over Uluru – but it’s hard for Madison to be present.
Is their love as strong as the Uluru rock formation?
No! She dumps him. We didn’t see this coming before tonight, but after the day with his family, we can’t say we’re shocked.
“As much as we want this, I don’t know that we can, like, give each other what we need,” Madison tells him. She’s walking away so he can get what he came there to find.
Poor Peter is confused. Madison digs in: She doesn’t know if they’re the best for each other.
She’s still sad: “To walk away from someone that you love, it’s like the worst feeling in the world.”
Will Peter propose to Hannah Ann – or will Madison get in the way?
Peter talks about his feelings with Chris, explaining he’s emotionally drained. He also knows that he’s in love with Hannah Ann. Uh, is Hannah Ann going to find out she’s the only one left in contention?
Peter and Hannah Ann visit a kangaroo sanctuary, and no, we can’t handle how cute it all is. But Hannah Ann can tell something is off. She wants Peter to be certain of his feelings.
Peter later explains it’s been the hardest week of his life, but that he’s never doubted anything with her. He explains that his heart is being pulled in two different directions. Hannah Ann says it hurts when she’s so sure and he’s not.
She feels like her heart’s already breaking.
Live, Chris tells us: If you think you’ve seen the last of Madison, you haven’t. We also haven’t seen the last of Barbara. We should be prepared to have our minds blown.
We’ll believe it when we see it.
