Barack Obama recently spoke to the AFL-CIO executive council about his new policy “Make it in America” He explained that as long as he was president “he would fight night and day” to make sure we win all the jobs and not play second place to China, India, Germany and other parts of Europe.
Thomas G. Donlan points out in Barron’s “The president missed the point of economic competition. Businesses don’t fight for jobs, they struggle to produce the best possible products at the lowest possible cost, and to sell to the greatest possible number of customers. The goal is profit; jobs follow profit.”
What the President was really saying was the government and the AFL-CIO would rebuild the economy. Get ready to wait a very long time. – DSMW
