Who we are
Don’t Spread My Wealth (“DSMW,” “we,” “us”) runs the website at https://www.dontspreadmywealth.com (the “Site”). This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Effective date: [insert the date you publish this page]
The Site gathers headlines and short excerpts from other publishers and links to their full articles. When you follow one of those links, you leave our Site, and the other publisher’s privacy policy applies.
Information we collect
We collect very little. You don’t need an account to read the Site, and the Site has no comment section, sign-up form, or newsletter.
Collected automatically when you visit
- Your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and the pages you view, recorded in our web server logs.
- Cookies and similar technologies set by us and by our advertising partners (see the next section).
If you email us
If you write to us at editor@dontspreadmywealth.com, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it only to read and reply to your message.
Cookies and advertising
The Site shows ads served by Google AdSense, and those ads use cookies. A cookie is a small file stored by your browser.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites.
- Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Google may also use cookies and similar signals to measure ad performance and to detect invalid clicks and fraud.
You can learn how Google uses information from sites that show its ads at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Turning off personalized ads
- Google: visit My Ad Center to turn off personalized advertising.
- Other participating ad companies: visit www.aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you, and some Site features may not work.
Fonts
The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts. To deliver them, Google receives your IP address and browser information.
Other websites and embedded content
Most stories on the Site are short excerpts that link to the full article on another publisher’s website. We don’t control those websites, and this policy doesn’t cover them. Check their privacy policies before you share information with them.
Posts on the Site may include images, videos, or social media posts embedded from other websites. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited the other website: it may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with it.
Our link to our X (Twitter) account takes you to X, where X’s privacy policy applies.
How we use and share information
We use the information we collect to:
- Run, secure, and improve the Site.
- Reply to messages you send us.
- Show ads through Google AdSense, which pays for the Site.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only:
- With Google, as described above, when ads and fonts load on the Site.
- With our web host and the service providers that help us run the Site, who may use it only for that purpose.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our readers, the Site, or others.
Under some state laws, letting advertising partners collect information through cookies for personalized ads can count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information. The next section explains how to opt out.
Your choices and rights
You can always:
- Turn off personalized ads using the links in the cookies section.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser.
- Ask us to delete any email you sent us.
U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with consumer privacy laws), you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information, or its use for targeted advertising.
- Not be treated differently for using these rights.
To make a request, email editor@dontspreadmywealth.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within the time the law requires. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals sent by your browser as an opt-out request where the law requires it.
Do Not Track: browsers’ “Do Not Track” setting has no agreed standard, so the Site does not respond to it.
How long we keep information
- We don’t keep reader accounts or profiles.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
- Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to respond and keep a record of our correspondence.
Security
We use reasonable measures, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, to protect the Site. No website is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee the security of information sent to us.
Children’s privacy
The Site is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
