Cotton McKnight and Pepper Brooks won’t be on the call, but dodgeball will air on ESPN2 this Sunday, as the station rebrands as ESPN8: The Ocho.
“The Ocho” began as a satire from the 2004 movie “Dodgeball” that the network has adopted since 2017 to spice up its summer programming each Aug. 8 (8/8). But without any live sports for the foreseeable future, there is a clear space for ESPN8 to return.
For anyone looking for “good, clean, family fun” on the day eight more tickets to the Sweet 16 should have been punched, “The Ocho” will broadcast the 2020 Cornhole Championships beginning at midnight Sunday.
Other events include the putt putt championships (7:30 a.m.), the 2006 Krystal World Hamburger Eating Championship (noon), professional arm wrestling (4 p.m.) and the 2019 Golden Tee World Championship (4:30 p.m.).
The action really starts to pick up at 6:30 with the U.S. taking on Canada in the America’s Dodgeball Continental Cup. Jelle’s Marble Runs airs after that.
A complete list of Sunday’s events on “The Ocho” can be found here (via ESPN).
