For nearly two years, the Obama – Holder administration has persisted and doggedly so in treating al Qaeda operatives as garden-variety suspects entitled to all the constitutional rights of Americans, rather than as enemy combatants intent on killing innocent civilians. Ghailani’s trial was supposed to be the easy case. Wednesday he was convicted by a New York jury on one count only in the massive 1998 car bombings in Kenya and Tanzania killing 224 people including 12 Americans.
The near acquittal of Ahmed Ghanilani this week should, at a minimum, be the last gasp for President Obama and Eric Holder’s misguided effort to wage the war on terrorism in the courtroom. Ghanilani’s civilian trail was a huge and predictable mistake. What does the court system do now, release him?
