Joel Embiid embraces new ‘nickname’ in light of viral Jeopardy! error

A contestant on Jeopardy! became a meme Wednesday night when he incorrectly guessed the nickname of Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid.

The clue was: “Joel Embiid in 2019 won the trademark for this nickname of his that also describes the 76ers’ strategy of improving the team.”

The answer, of course, is “The Process.” That is not what the Jeopardy! contestant said, as you can see below.

A Twitter search for “do a 180” or any version of “Joel” and “Process” and “180” will show just how much fun people had with the gaffe.

Embiid, who is well known for his social media prowess, changed his Twitter name to “Joel ‘Do a 180’ Embiid???”

It’s been a busy 2020 so far for Embiid, whose year has already included a brief spat with Sixers fans, harsh criticism from Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal, a career-high 49 points in a game against the Atlanta Hawks, a strong performance at the NBA All-Star Game and a shoulder injury that has him out of the lineup.
