Venezuela’s Chávez Loses Key Vote

Hugo Chavez has had his way now for 11 years with a lock on the Venezuelan Congress.  Last night he faced a stunning loss to the opposition.  Perhaps now a more powerful opposition will prevent Chavez from enacting policies that will prevent the government’s ability to pay debts.

The United Socialist Party of Venezuela is not worried with the outcome. ” The president quipped Monday in a message on social-networking site Twitter. “Well, by all means, then, I hope they keep ‘winning.'”
